Gangtey Trek I


Duration – 7 Days

Level of difficulty- Medium

Suitable Month- January – May, September – December.

 Day One

Arrive at Paro International Airport and after completing the formalities at the airport Immigration, you are required to exit the airport.  At the arrival gate, our representative will be there to receive you with the placard.  You will be escorted to the car and our representative will give you the brief introduction of the tour so that you will be fully aware of your stay in Bhutan.

The duration from Paro to Thimphu is hardly one & half hour even if you drive gradually.  During the journey, you will come across many interesting things such as small scattered villages, paddy fields, temple which is located at other side of the river and connected by the suspension bridge and road side shops etc.  Once you arrive at Thimphu town, our representative will assist you with hotel check- In formalities. If you wish to go around the city after checking in at Hotel, our representative will take you, otherwise we normally keep free evening for our guest so that our guest can prepare for trek next day.

Day Two (5 hours) Thimphu to Gangtey

After the breakfast drive to Gangtey enroute Dochula pass & Wangdue. On the way to Gangtey, you can visit Dochula, popular location which offers speculator 360 Degree view of Himalayan mountain range, 108 Druk Wangyal chortens. Also visit Royal Botanical Park at Lam Pelri and Wangdue.  Lunch at Wangdue followed by sightseeing and then continue the journey to Gangtey. Overnight at camp or farm house as per your choice. One can really experience the life of countryside.

Day Three: Gangtey Geompa to Gogona(6-7 hours trek & 3,400 m)

As you trek gradually uphill through the fields, you will enjoy the scenic view of the forests and then trek to Tsele La pass and have lunch. After lunch gradually trek downhill, you will come across the juniper forest, wild bamboo trees, magnolias and rhododendrons and finally arrive at Gogona village. The villagers are nomads in origin and speaks their own language called Bjokha in Bhutan (language of nomads). Overnight at camp.

Day Four: Gogona to Khotokha  (6 -7 hours trek)

As you trek upwards through the trail into the forest of oak, spruce, cypress, junipers, firs and rhododendron, you will arrive at Shobju La pass and gradually descends to the Khotokha valley, summer residence for people of sha.  Overnight at camp.

 Day Five: Khotokha to Chazam, Wangdue (around 5 hours trek)

On your last trekking day, you will climb up through the Mulai La pass and gradually descends through ever-changing vegetation and finally arrive at Wangdue Bridge. Drive to Wangdue and overnight at Wangdue

Day Six: Wangdue en-route Punakha to Paro

Drive to Punakha Dzong, one of the old Dzong in Bhutan and it is known for its structural beauty.  The dzong is built at confluence of Pho Chhu and Mo chhu, two major rivers of Punakha. After lunch, continue the journey to Paro and overnight at Paro

Drive to Paro International Airport for onward destination
